Toronto is the only Canadian city included in the 2021 ranking. ![]() The Economist says that this year’s report is based on 76 sub indicators grouped under 5 domains - digital security, health security, infrastructure security, environmental security, and personal security. The report is released annually by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) and it analyzes the cities based on a variety of factors. Canada’s biggest city got a score of 82.2, right on the heels of Copenhagen’s number one score of 82.4. While this may come as a surprise given Chicago’s murder statistics and the fact that U.S. ![]() Toronto has earned itself a top spot in The Economist’s Safe Cities Index for 2021, ranking in second place out of 60 major urban areas worldwide. Chicago has been named one of the safest cities in the world.
